History of the 13th zodiac Ophiuchus

The constellation of Ophiuchus finds its root back to the ancient times and is known better to the world as Serpentarius or the Serpent Holder. If you refer to the list of constellations that was put forth by Ptolemy then you will find Ophiuchus described as one of them. In the world of astrology, Ophiuchus I represented by a man who is with a serpent and divides the body of the serpent into two, leading to the present day symbol of Asclepius- the well known medical staff. Astrologers have not taken into account this 13th zodiac sign because the sun spends just 19 days in this constellation of Mazzaroth. It doesn't mean that the heaven was devoid of 13th sign all the while but according to astrologers the sun left the Scorpius constellation and entered the Sagittarius directly. But in reality, the sun spends about 19 days and travels by the constellation of 'Ophiuchus' before it reaches Sagittarius. The sun sign of 'Ophiuchus' is dedicated to the original 'Serpent Holder' and a Sumerian god, Enki.

From the point of view of earthlings, the zodiac signs can be considered as a pathway or highway through which the sun travels around the year across what astrologers name the heaven. Each zodiac represents a constellation through which the sun moves and these constellations occupy space. Originally astrologers have acknowledged the 12 sun signs and adding not like the untidiness of adding a 13th one to it. It is believed that the heavens have life and after few thousand years there is a change in them and if astrologers want to maintain accuracy then they will have to go along with the changes.

Ophiuchus constellation is the only one that is related to a man who has actually lived in the world. He lived in Egypt at the time of 27th century BC and he was named as Imhotep which is again patterned like Enki. He shares many similar qualities with the Biblical character Joseph who was son of Jacob. Imhotep is said to have achieved a lot in the field of medicine. He is known to have taught the skill of healing to mankind and the Greeks know him as 'Asclepius' as mentioned earlier. Whether Joseph, Imhotep or Asclepius, the qualities of the man remains the same.

Here are some traits of the serpent holder which is believed to be reflected in people born under this sign:

The discovery or rather revival of this theory has led to major controversies among astrologers and common people like. The world is now debating on whether or not to accept the 13th zodiac sign into the zodiac wheel.
